English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Everyone at The Beacon CE School has the right to an outstanding education. We are proud to welcome families from a wealth of cultures and backgrounds and value the rich diversity of our school community.

As a Rights Respecting School, our English as an Additional Language (EAL) Policy has been developed in line with the articles in the UNCRC.

We have pupils from all around the world with 20 languages spoken. Therefore, it is our aim to ensure that every child learns to the best of their ability within the rights-respecting ethos of the school and EAL is important in achieving this aim.

We take pride to ensure an inclusive curriculum and through the use of EAL tracking tools and provision mapping pupils are closely montiored for their progression within the curriuclum and for their acquisition of the English language.

If you require any information, please contact Miss Angela Ball our EAL Co-ordinator.
