Welcome to Year 4!

Ms Peel is your class teacher this year and other teachers working with us include Mr Blundell in 4B, Ms Shepherd for French, Ms Bate for art, Ms Nelson for RE and Computing and In Harmony for Music. We are also excited to be continuing our chess lessons this year and our PE lessons this term will be taught by staff from the LFC Foundation. 

Your child's PE day for Autumn 1 is Fridays

Reading

Reading is an important part of your child's development and learning and we appreciate all the support you give at home towards this. We encourage all pupils to read a book from their ZPD level 5-7 nights a week. This can be recorded in your child's reading record, which is then collected each Friday. If your child has read 5-7 nights, they will be rewarded 3 dojos, which will be shown in their reading records with a star stamp. When your child has finished a book, they will independently complete a quiz on a school iPad first thing in the morning. They will then choose another book from the class library. 

Homework

Each Friday, homework is set on Century AI. They will have a maths, English and science nugget to complete. Those who complete this by the following Tuesday will be rewarded 3 dojos. Times tables are an important part of year 4. The best way for your child to continue practising these at home is using ttrockstars. Your child's login is in their reading record. The website can be accessed here: https://play.ttrockstars.com/public

Spellings are sent home each Friday and are tested the following Friday. This will be a copy of the week's 10 spelling words.
